MOSCOW, Jul 10 (PRIME) -- Russia has suggested prolonging the current gas transit contract with Ukraine, or to create a consortium, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Wednesday after a meeting with Ukrainian party Opposition Platform – For life.
“Concerning how we can move on… there are several options. One of them, perhaps, the easiest, is to retain the contracts which exist for some time in order to come to an agreement in a more serious way,” Medvedev said.
“The second, which we have never ruled out is a consortium which used to be hyper-politicized for a time but now…. I mean, the TurkStream and Nord Stream, this problem is gone.”
But co-chairman of the Ukrainian party Yury Boiko said that both scenarios require additional consultations.
Chairman of the political council of the party Viktor Medvedchuk said he had asked Medvedev to prolong a unilateral lifting of sanctions from Ukrainian companies. “We’ve returned to the topic of tariffs and gas prices .. We’ve asked to prolong, at least unilaterally for some time, the lifting of sanctions which are taking place against Ukrainian companies.”
